My personal training with Richard Meikle began soon after joining the Physical Factory in November 1993. There I was, 36 years old, my 16 year marriage had just broken up, battling a seemingly life long weight problem and a huge life change and I had never been to a gym in my life! I spent the first couple of weeks at the gym pedalling furiously and treadmilling away my emotions whilst I observed Richard train his clients.

​

Richard was full of energy and vitality...thought just some of it may rub off on me! I decided to bite the bullet and engage a few personal training sessions to help me with my program. Those few sessions turned into four wonderful years. In the first 12 months I dropped 24 kilos with weekly weight training and fitness sessions which increased to fortnightly sessions. I had been on the diet train all my life and with Richard’s guidance I learned to get off and focus on sensible eating. I learned to use weights and exercise appropriately for fat burning and fitness and began to participate in fun runs and local fitness events. I was full of life and bursting with energy! Next on the horizon was a half marathon which was my “before I hit 40 goal” and with Richard’s expertise I put in a great effort and completed the Gold Coast Half Marathon which gave me great self satisfaction.

Richard was very instrumental in equipping me with what I know will be a lifelong commitment to exercise and for this I am eternally grateful.

As a young man I played rugby and had a few injuries. As I hit my 40’s the twinges in my body became more pronounced. As a husband, father and business person I didn’t want to jeopardize my health and discussed surgery.
